Membership

Joining Beth Shalom means becoming part of a community that shows up for you. Members celebrate together, learn together, and support one another through every season of life.

Membership at Congregation Beth Shalom

What Membership Includes

  • High Holy Day seats for every member of your household
  • Reduced Hebrew school tuition and b'nai mitzvah preparation
  • Pastoral care and life-cycle support from Rabbi Kessler and Cantor Abramov
  • Free adult education classes

Dues

We use a voluntary dues model. Each household pays what it can, and no one is turned away for financial reasons. Suggested annual commitments are:

Families

$2,400

Individuals

$1,500

Young adults under 35

$360

First year members

half of the suggested amount

Dues can be paid monthly, quarterly, or once a year. All conversations about dues are confidential and handled by our treasurer.

Interfaith Families

Partners who are not Jewish are full participants in our community. They are welcome in our services, classes, and committees, and they are listed as members of the household.

How to Join

Start with a conversation. Our membership chair, Naomi Rubin, will meet with you over coffee, answer your questions, and introduce you to families with similar interests. You are welcome to attend services and programs for several months before you decide.

We visited three synagogues. Beth Shalom was the only one where people asked about us before they asked about dues.
